Our recipe is for a vintage seasoning used in tacos. Ground meat was not used. Finely diced meats were prepared for this dish.   • 1865 Traditional Texas Taco Meat (Al Carbon) Seasoning. What we think of as tacos, today, have their roots in early Spanish/Mexican cooking from several centuries ago. Our recipe is for a vintage seasoning used in tacos. Ground meat was not used. Finely diced meats were prepared for this dish. Meats varied from beef, pork, and chicken to domesticated livestock and wild game.  Great for living history activities.
  • Uses: Brown meat of choice until cooked. Drain and return to the pan. Add 1 Tablespoon of seasoning for each pound of meat. Stir and add 2/3 Cup water for each tablespoon of seasoning.  Simmer on low until most liquid is absorbed. It is ready to serve.
  • Ingredients: Chili Powder, Paprika, Cumin, Garlic Powder, Diced Onion, Mexican Oregano, Cayenne Pepper.
