Chili was originally referred to as “a bowl of Texas Red.” Use this heirloom seasoning to cook a traditional bowl of chili, just like the early Texans ate. San Antonio is the birthplace of chili and locals quickly adopted Texas Red as a staple food. The frontier army immediately added chili as a favorite of the troops, as well as Texas cattle drive cooks. Comes in three ‘heat levels.’ This one is Mild. Great for living history activities.

Chili was originally referred to as “a bowl of Texas Red.” Use this heirloom seasoning to cook a traditional bowl of chili, just like the early Texans ate. - Uses: Original recipe: 2-3 lbs. of meat, cut into small diced pieces. Brown meat in 3-4 tablespoons of bacon grease or oil. Add 1 diced onion, 2 tablespoons vinegar, and 1 full tablespoon of our seasoning for each pound of meat. Add 4-6 cups water and simmer for several hours. Mix in the masa to thicken to desired thickness and serve.
- Ingredients: Black Pepper, Garlic Powder, Sea Salt, Ancho Chili Powder, Cumin, Red Peppers, Paprika, Selected Spices, Extract of Capsicum, Masa.
